GTAStunting Database
The central archive for GTAStunting history, videos, and records.
About the project
For over twenty years, GTAStunting videos have been wiped out by dead file hosts and copyright strikes. While the community always had a home on the forums, its videos and records mostly survived through loose backups on personal hard drives.
During COVID, I decided it would be cool to build a central place where all our videos could actually live. That quickly spiraled into building a complete database to log as much information about each video as possible.
Once I shared the site, so many people were willing to hand over their personal collections. But processing thousands of videos was a massive grind. Nearly every old release was a .WMV file that had to be converted to MP4 before it could even stream online.
From there, every single video had to be watched start-to-finish to log credited stunters, then watched all over again with Shazam or lyric searches running just to identify the soundtracks.
Community Contributors & Credits
The person who helped the absolute most with this project was MaCi, who sadly passed away a few years ago. His passion for this archive exceeded my own, he took off running with the cataloging effort, and honestly, I probably would have given up if it weren't for him. GTASDB exists largely because of his dedication to preserving this community's history.
Beyond that, dozens of people have contributed to processing video requests, adding data, fixing incorrect data and the general upkeep of the database - even with me being uncontactable / absent.
I wish I could list everybody that helped / contributed, I fear any attempt to do so would either leave someone out unfairly due to bad memory, or may as well be a list of everybody in the community. A big thank you to anybody that helped be, this was well and truly a community project.
